Chippenham Park Gardens & Events
Chippenham Park Gardens & Events faced a major challenge: their two separate websites—one for garden visitors and another for weddings—were losing traffic. Despite working with multiple agencies, the issues persisted. Hugo, the owner, approached me to find a solution.
Given their reputation as a stunning garden to visit and a sought-after wedding venue, it was critical to create a solution that served both audiences while addressing underlying issues.
Diagnosing the Problem
I conducted a research project that included a heuristic review, SEO review, Google Analytics analysis and 1-2-1 user testing to gain insights into their site and users.
The research revealed two key problems:
-
The split between two websites, in addition to poor content, hurt their SEO so users weren't finding the site.
-
Poor navigation and lack of clear signposting made it difficult for visitors to did find them, to find the information they needed.
Crafting the Solution
To address these issues, I consolidated the content into one cohesive website under a new domain to streamline navigation, strengthen SEO, and offer a seamless experience for both garden visitors and engaged couples.
Steps to Success
After auditing the existing site links to ensure proper redirects to preserve traffic, and a full content audit, the site architecture was redesigned for clarity, and user journeys were carefully planned to meet the needs of garden enthusiasts and wedding clients alike.
Having collaborated closely with the business owners, on the site’s aesthetics design to ensure it reflected Chippenham Park’s unique charm. Finally, the website was built with seamless integration of marketing tools, including Mailchimp, to support ongoing promotional efforts.
The Results
Since the site’s launch, traffic has increased by 40%, and the unified platform provides a seamless experience for all users. Ongoing SEO efforts continue to strengthen the site’s visibility and grow its audience.
Ongoing Improvements
I continue to work with Hugo on ongoing SEO optimisation to ensure the site maintains and grows its visibility. By regularly refining content and strategies, we’re building on the initial success and driving even more engagement for this extraordinary venue.
This project showcases how a user-centred, research-driven approach can transform a struggling online presence into a thriving digital asset.
